Library Card Sign-up Month

It’s Library Card Sign-up Month

Did you know that September is Library Card sign-up month? Started in 1987, September marks the return to school and a time to learn about all you can do with your library card.

A library card is one of the most cost effective back to school supplies available. Having a library card makes you feel like a superhero with all the amazing free access to resources. Library cards give you access to technology, eResources and educational programs. Throughout the school year, library staff assist families to learn about the wealth of educational resources and services available for students. From free access to STEAM programs and activities, virtual homework help, technology workshops to so much more.

During the month, the American Library Association and libraries unite in a national effort for every child sign-up for their own library card. This year one of our favorite SuperHeroes, DC’s Wonder Woman, is embarking on a new mission to champion the power of a library card.

Here is how you can get involved:

  1. If you don’t have a library card – sign up for one! Do you have friends and family that don’t have cards? Invite them to sign up in September and take part in the celebration.
  2. Share the love across your social media #LibraryCardSignupMonth.
  3. Participate in the events at your local library.
