Mission

To enhance awareness of San Mateo County Libraries and expand equitable access to its services. To build resources that strengthen San Mateo County Libraries and deepen connections to its community.

Vision

Empowering San Mateo County Libraries to better serve the community.

About Us

San Mateo County Libraries serve the diverse communities of Atherton, Belmont, Brisbane, East Palo Alto, Foster City, Half Moon Bay, Millbrae, North Fair Oaks, Pacifica, Portola Valley, San Carlos, Woodside and the unincorporated areas of the County. The primary source of library revenue comes from dedicated property taxes and covers the staffing and basic operational costs of the libraries, however, the extensive and innovative programming offered for all ages comes from one-time funds, which are not guaranteed year after year. The Foundation for San Mateo County Libraries was established in 2018 to build this legacy for our communities.
