The Foundation for San Mateo County Libraries is ready to invest in the future!

On September 19th, over 100 people came to Devil’s Canyon Brewing Company to celebrate the launch of the Foundation for San Mateo County Libraries. Thank you for all those who attended and supported the event. The aim of the Foundation is to support the goals of the San Mateo County Libraries by raising financial resources for and awareness of the libraries.

When guests arrived, food trucks Dum and Pita Gyros provided delicious food and Nothing Bundt Cakes provided sweet cake bites.  Throughout the night, guests visited the bookmobile to get a card or check out books. They watched 3D printers and laser cutter create items on the spot and visited the world through virtual reality machines. They also saw a few of the Libraries book bikes that displayed unique items you can find at one of the libraries including sewing machines, coding robots and ukuleles. The aim was to give them experience in using library technology so they could understand why the community uses the county library system and what a valuable resource it provides to everyone.

As the night continued, guests heard from the President Marina Fraser and Executive Director Raquel España, about the role of the Foundation and two staff shared their testimonials about their experience working with the libraries. Guests also had the opportunity to bid on an auction item or make a donation to support the work of the libraries.

“I am thrilled to be a part of the Foundation where we will be able to invest in the Libraries’ innovative nature as they meet the needs of everyone in the community, “ said President Marina Fraser.

The night shared a view of what the libraries offer free to the public and why it is so important to create a legacy. Thanks to the sponsors made this event possible.
